light on

David Cook has released the first single* off of his as of yet untitled album, Light On. The song, which is phenomenal, is set for sale on Itunes on September 30, but can be heard on air waves across the country as well as on aol music. As for the Album, which was rumored to be named something earlier this week but the name has since been pulled from the internet, will be released November 18 this year.

*Cook’s winning Single off American Idol, Time of My Life is very possibly not going to be a part of the stars debut this fall.

ford day

Yesterday, David Cook and David Archuleta took the stage together yet again, perhaps for the last time. It was Ford Day, which I believe is a type of company picnic for the employees of Ford Motor Company, and since Ford is a manger sponsor of American Idol, the winner and runner up of this season were picked as the entertainment (I don’t know if this happens every year because, frankly I usually only follow the show until the finale and then check in again when the singles are release). Anyway, it was a nice thing to watch if you are on Idol withdrawal, there are all videos of “D-squared” up on youtube, simply search David Archuleta or David Cook + Ford Day.

GMA

More good news about David Cook. Every year Good Moring America has a concert series and on November 17th the performance will be David Cook.

According to GMA, Most concerts take place at the show’s Times Square Studio at 43rd St. and Broadway in midtown Manhattan. Entrance to the studio is on a first-come, first-served basis. The show, which airs weekdays from 7- 9 in the morning, says that although the performances are usually slated for around 8:30, those interested in attending should arrive at the studios no later than 7 am. I would say that you should even arrive before that if possible.

an update from the man

David Cook wrote his fans on his official webpage today:

Hey Guys,I wanted to drop a note and answer a few emails that I’ve been getting! I can’t thank you guys enough for all the sign-ups and emails pertaining to the website. And thanks to everyone who came out on the tour. As you know, the AI tour has ended and although it was sad to sing together for the last time in Tulsa, we had a blast all summer….. The new album is coming along great! I can say that, because I’m in the studio typing this, as we speak. Well as I speak. You’re reading. You guys are going to be the first to know the name of the first single AND what the album cover is going to look like. Make sure to sign up to get in on that if you’re interested in being the first to know.I love the new site and hope you do too…it’s just the beginning and we’re still working out some kinks here and there. I know a few people had some password issues and that’s all been fixed we think. The web nerds (get it?) helping me out apologize for the inconvenience. So much more coming for the site too….like a points system, listening parties, maybe even a few other secret things that I’ll be able to talk about soon. I also wanted to grab a few emails and respond to them because I really appreciate you emailing me. I do read email, but obviously can’t respond to all of them…so I’ll pick out a few to blog about from time to time. Below are this week’s picks! Again thanks guys!~D

Stand Up to Cancer

A while back I mentioned Stand Up To Cancer and that David Cook was a part with it.  I was really excited when I had heard the news, mostly because I know that the eradication of cancer is a cause that is so extremely close to David’s heart.  The morning of the program, Cookie was even on Ryan Seacrest’s radio station promoting it. I wondered all day whether he’d be live or taped. Would he perform or simply say a message. And so I watch the telethon and we donated to it. Star after star appeared on the screen and after an hour it as over and Cook had been cut. Luckily, his segment is now available online:

Archie’s Big Video

David Cook is having some off time after the tour, or at least he’s out of the spotlight. As he continues working on his November album release, not to mention working toward his next hit single, the Idol’s runner up and “little bro” David Archuleta has released his first music video. The video is for his first single, “Crush,” and was available exclusively through ITUNES. However, I managed to find it for free (see address below.) the video is campy; the concept being David hanging out with a group of friends when he realizes there is one friend whom he’d like to be more.  He is even seen playing a guitar (though it appears he’s never held one before from his discomfort). However it gets a little over the top (think a Backstreet Boys video circa 1990’s) when you become conscious of the fact that he is playing the song on a piano on top of the lake. Check it out:

all good things…

It all ends tonight

Well that’s a bit dramatic. David Cook’s career doesn’t end tonight and he will remain the reigning American Idol until someone gets named it in May 2009, but tonight is the end of the American Idols Live tour (presented by Pop Tarts) and, after almost a year together non-stop, the top ten will go their separate ways after the Tulsa, Oklahoma extravaganza. They are all really emotional. Right now I’m sitting listening to the concert via cellcast at rickey.org and it’s awesome.  If you haven’t already, check it out, it might be the last time that these ten perform together.

klc

I know that this is a blog dedicated to David Cook but being that it is September 11 I figured I’d detour a little bit and talk about Kristy Lee Cook, whom, I am sure got a standing ovation tonight. While the blond country girl was never tops when it came to talent, the girl knows how to command an audience. During the concert she dances, vamps, and sparkles in head to toe glitter while she sang two songs I’ve never heard of and “God Bless the USA” (in front of giant American Flag) completely decently. While, compared to the other performers, Cook is weak she is by no means hard to sit through. Particularly on a night when America comes together, in spirit, KLC’s performance can bring the house down.

The Mavid Dances

A few weeks into the American Idols Live tour David Cook and Michael Johns, both of whom warned that they were the prankster of the group, decided to improvise dance moves in the otherwise choreographed rendition of “Please Don’t Stop the Music.”  It started innocent enough, a few break-dance moves, but it has quickly escalated to the most important question asked about the concert. They’ve imitated Mama Mia’s dances, mimed baseball games, and even reenacted the “Jack I’m Flying scene from Titanic.

Here’s a sampling on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKuprt8utes

There were a few days when they were told by the AI hirer ups that there was to be no more of this silliness but then 3 days later, it was back and Johns said “we won.”

As one person put on David-cook.org “I can see next year’s Idol contract having a few ‘You will not mess with the choreography on tour, you will not get in cohoots with a very silly Australian man and invent strange dances, you will not get the other idols in on your schemes and encourage them to mess around on stage as well’ clauses”

The Davids

During the American Idol season American Idol winner, David Cook and runner up David Archuleta have definitely forged a strong friendship. Some have even called their relationship brotherly and the pair agrees. There was no malice during the finale and when Cook received the news that he’d won the competition, he made sure that “Archie,” as Cook nick-named his opponent, was front and center in the spotlight with him.

Soon the tour will be over and the two will, presumably, be spending less time together but before it’s over, there is a video that shows off what everyone has said about there big brother/ little bro bound.
